ANASTASIYA PARVANOVA
Born in Burgas, Bulgaria, in 1990, Anastasiya Parvanova lives and works between Venice and Sofia. After graduating in Visual Arts and Pedagogy at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, she continued her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice where she attended the painting course directed by Carlo Di Raco, graduating with her MFA in 2022. Since 2016 she has been part of the artistic collectives Malutta Foundation and Tutti la Chiamano la Casa delle Ragazze.
“Poetry and painting unveil the world, exploring the inner spaces of the mind and the universe. As human beings, we have the privilege and the responsibility to observe and understand the world with great care and attention, and to bear witness to what we discover. For me, painting is the medium through which I can explore the boundaries of imagination, interpreting reality in its continuous transformation.
Through my work, I explore the mystery and infinite complexity of the world, reflecting on the connections between ourselves and the universe we are part of. I often choose to depict non-existent places or subjects that are typically invisible, glimpsed only in a hypnagogic state through perception, imagination, or dreams. I am continually searching for an image of the world that might work better than before, exploring questions about the nature of matter and beyond, both through science and through art.
Art is a dimension of knowledge; it is very mobile and unstable, yet extremely powerful because, when it emerges, it generates a renewal, a reopening that gives the image a new intention and a new perspective. Art possesses an enigmatic and non-definitive knowledge, similar to the flow of a karst river that enters the earth and then reemerges with new strength.”
